Agile Leadership Practices
What are Agile Leadership practices and how does Management 3.0 address it? Key aspects addressed are:
- Understanding the context of Agile and its impact on Organizations and Management
- Crafting concrete perspectives and practices for Agile Leadership
- Gaining insights for shaping Agile Organizations
- Key concepts for an Agile approach to change
For growing Agile leaders each Management 3.0 Workshop is targeted to one specific group of people: those focused on improving their approach to management. These are the people who recognize that there is not enough employee engagementand team collaboration in their organization. These are the people who won’t just complain, but are looking for proactive solutions to change management processes. There the people across organizations looking to answer:
- How can we motivate our workers?
- How can we change the organization’s culture?
- How can we change the mindset of managers?
- How can we get teams to take responsibility?
- How can we improve teamwork and team collaboration?
- How can we can managers to trust their teams?
- How can we develop people’s competencies?
- How can we be agile when the organization is not?
Management 3.0 is part of the answer to these questions. Management 3.0 is the future of management. Management 3.0 follows the systems thinking idea that 95 percent of the performance of an organization is the result of the whole system, not the individual. Management 3.0 examines how to analyze that system to come up with the right solutions for better leadership across organizations. Oh, and Management 3.0 Workshops are a LOT of fun! Every moment of a Management 3.0 Workshop from exercises to games to discussions to coffee breaks is an opportunity to network with your peers and to learn, laugh and improve your approach to management.
What is the difference between available Management 3.0 Workshop formats?
Each workshop is of course a little different because each workshop has different attendees. Our awesome team of management coaches adapts the workshops for attendees, as well as each attendee drives discussion and story-telling. Both the Management 3.0 two-day workshop and the #Workout one-day workshop have different approaches to the same management challenges. Anyone looking to improve her leadership style or his approach to management would benefit from attending either or both workshops. Both Management 3.0 workshops include solutions for:
- performance management
- competence development
- team collaboration and project management
- agile methodologies
- employee empowerment
- self-organization and delegation
- developing purpose and value inside an organization
- change management and organizational transformation
- organizational hierarchy
- extrinsic motivation vs. intrinsic motivation
While both workshops address these topics, they do so with different methodologies. The two-day Management 3.0 workshop splits between theoretical and practical agile management. It was created for software development but has been adapted by all sorts of agile teams around the world. Day One focuses on how to energize people and “empower” teams. Day Two dives into aligning constraints and developing competencies around the organization and people.
This workshop is based on leadership guru Jurgen Appelo‘s first best-seller, also called Management 3.0. The one-day #Workout workshop is fully hands-on and, like the full-color book it’s named after, often includes a bit more play, games and laughter. From even before it begins, attendees are applying the exercises and best practices with fellow attendees that they will then take back to their own teams. The book this workshop is based on #Workout: Games, Tools, and Practices to Engage People, Improve Work, and Delight Clients, which was written by Jurgen in reaction to the desire from all sorts of lead ership influencers to apply agile and modern management practices to their own teams. We adapt both workshops heavily to the audience and they can be also given in-house to whole organizations or teams. You can take one or the other workshop, but, since they both address common themes from different perspectives, if you can take a three-day course, these workshops, like their books, make a perfect pair. While you are able to just pick one or the other, more than half of the attendees attend both together when they have the opportunity.

A fad you say? Management 3.0 is far from it. It’s a fact that more and more organizations are moving towards agile methodologies. This demands a new way of thinking for leaders. Whilst many have developed a new mindset and practice it, Management 3.0 gives concrete tools, names metaphors and much, much more that add to a leader’s tool belt. I highly recommend the workshops to experience it live!MATTHEW ALDRIDGE, WhateverMobile.com, Germany
